Day 26: The 3 Traits I Hire for Every Time

You can train a skill.
You can teach a system.

But you can’t fake drive.
You can’t fake care.
And you definitely can’t fake consistency.

That’s why I hire for traits, not just talent.

Here are the 3 I never compromise on.

1. They take ownership

They don’t make excuses.
They don’t wait to be told what to do.
They see a gap—and move to fill it.

Whether it’s cleaning the station or handling a late client—
They take pride in the whole business, not just their chair.

2. They want to grow

If they’re not hungry to improve, they’ll hold your team back.

I look for people who:

  • Ask questions

  • Watch others

  • Want more clients, more impact, and more money

  • Show up early, stay sharp, and care

Ambition doesn’t always look loud—but it’s always there.

3. They’re consistent

I’ll take a consistent B+ player over an A+ diva any day.

Because the shop needs reliable.
It needs repeatable.
It needs people who do the little things right—even when no one’s watching.

That’s who builds a real business.

What’s not working:

  • Hiring based on vibes or resume alone

  • Keeping “high earners” who hurt the team

  • Confusing talent with leadership

  • Hoping someone will change, instead of hiring right from the start

What you’re looking for:

✅ A reliable, hungry, and teachable team
✅ Less drama, more drive
✅ People who push with you—not against you
✅ A hiring process that filters for the right traits every time

How we help:

We’ll help you build a hiring and onboarding system that filters for mindset—not just skill.

Because a strong team isn’t built by chance.
It’s built by design.
